1938 GMC/Van Pelt serial #233 is beautifully restored and is driven in several local parades every year. The nomination was made in 2022, and approved the same year by Dan Lintz. This awad has already been presented, in October, 2023, on behalf of the Van Pelt Chapter of SPAAMFAA, by fire chief Ed Martel of Montezuma Fire District, Stockton, CA, to Paul Tualla, fire chief of Los Banos, CA, Los Banos Fire Dept. perfectly exemplifies the spirit of the SPAAMFAA Preservation Award. In addition to the 1938 GMC/Van Pelt they have restored, and fequently parade, an 1893 and a 1915 hand-drawn hose reel, and their 1924 American-LaFrance Type 38 pump, hose, and chemical car, Registered No. 4536. They are also in process of restoring their 1955 GMC/Van Pelt Model HMS pumper serial #1244. Framed photos of past fire engines and past major fires decorate the firehouse walls.
