Upland Fire Co. # 1 was organized in 1926, Celebrating 75 years of volunteer fire service to Upland Borough, Pa. In 1959 an order was placed with Seagrave for a 1960 Pumper model 53l-BS-750 at a cost of $16,800.00. This pumper is a 70th Anniversary series pumper, nicknamed βThe Shorty.β Seagrave only made a hundred or so of this unique piece. It has a 140-inch wheelbase and the axels are cut 2 inches shorter for a tighter turning radius. The pumper features a 750 GPM pump and carries 400 gal. of water. It has one pre-connect in the hose bed and carries 1000 feet of 2 1/2' JonesβSnapβCoupling hose. The Engine is a V-12 with a 5speed manual trans. 571 was in front line service until August of 1983. It now resides in the Upland Fire Co. Museum and is driven to parades and musters in the Delaware Valley area.
