1950 MACK L-85 PUMPER: This truck is the oldest in my collection and with a pending move to a smaller storage location, it must be sold. I've owned it 25 years and it has been one of the finest trucks I've owned. Starts quick and runs excellent. New Tires appx. 3 years ago, rebuilt brake booster system 4 years ago. This truck needs nothing and is parade ready. It was repainted prior to my ownership in 1988 and is a 7 rating (1-10). Chrome on headlamps and warning lamps in front have very slight pitting, but they show very well. Nose was re-chromed approx. 5 years ago. Radiator recored appx. 10 years ago and fluid changed every 4 years. Trans. and rear end lubes changed 4 years ago. Engine has had oil changed every year religiously. Pump last pumped appx. 10 years ago and drained. Have not had opportunity to pump since, but it engages fine. If you're looking for a fine example of a 1950's "big city" fire truck, this is the truck for you. Originally sold to Ridgefield Park, NJ. $15,000. obo Feel free to email me direct with any questions. More pictures available on request. An American Original!! You can own a piece of American Firefighting History!! 1953 American LaFrance Fire Truck. This truck is fully in tact. Only things it is missing are the hoses and you! The V12 engine turns but currently does not run. It was running until last fall. The timing was off and we tried to adjust it. Because it has two distributors, when you get one side timed you then have to get the other side. That's where we got off and haven't messed with it since. There is nothing cosmetically wrong with this truck. With a bit of elbow grease you can be rolling around town in your open cab. Purchased it from a museum and well, now it's time to let it go. Truck has been kept inside a barn except for these pictures. Will consider all reasonable offers.Know we're going to take a bath, so all I ask is make the water lukewarm! Happy to answer ANY questions! Jofree Fincher, 940.465.5748 or Email (4-21-13 - - 13-37)

I am putting up for sale a 1952 American LaFrance 700 Series Pumper. This engine originally belonged to Maywood, IL but unknown when this engine was taken out of service. The truck has the original V-12 motor that runs very good. I have done a lot or rewiring in this engine including new battery cables and new batteries, and the only thing that still needs some attention is the rear brake lights, they flicker on every now and then. I have not done anything with the pump nor did the last owner of the truck. It has a 1,000gpm pump and I have checked all the fluids and put some water in the pump and engaged the pump. The pump did engage okay and spun freely but unknown any condition of any piping or if the tank willl hold water. This truck runs and drives great. All emergency lights and siren are working on this engine. The light on top of the engine is a Federal Beacon Ray Model 174 and siren is a Sterling Model 30 Sirenlite. If you have any questions please Email Nathan King or call 815-414-1245. I have more pictures of the engine if requested. Asking $6,500. (1-1-13 - - 13-07)

For Sale 1978 Ford F615E Fire Pumper 1000 gallon tank 750 gpm pump 6810 actual miles Single axle with split rear Gas engine 5+2 speed manual transmission. 20" tires. We took this truck in on trade and at the time of the trade-in it was actually being used by the Gilbertown Alabama Volunteer Fire Department so it does run and pump. The research we were able to do indicates that this truck was probably manufactured in November 1978 by PAJ Industries in Rogersville, Alabama. Trucks like this one had previously been manufactured by the American Fire Pump Company of Battle Creek, Michigan. The truck was called the Plain Jane and was designed to be a rugged, durable workhorse. It seems that there were three models of the Plain Jane...the Special, the Streamlined, and the Super. We believe that this particular truck is either the Special or the Streamlined model. It comes with an extension ladder, two large suction hoses, and a mounted hose reel with hose (not sure whether the hose is in usable condition). We also have a use and care manual that came with the truck. We do not know the history of the truck prior to it being owned by the Gilbertown Alabama Volunteer Fire Department but believe that they might have been the original owners since the mileage is so low. For several years immediately preceding the trade-in, pump testing and regular annual maintenance was performed by us. The truck has a small amount of rust. The worst is on the doors for the rear compartment. Also the passenger side has some scratches where it looks like someone side-swiped something. It is scratched but not dented here. The back bumper has a small dent. The upholstery in the cab is in good condition, but the floor matting on the driver's side needs to be replaced. We are asking $7500 or best offer. Please feel free to call us at 800-593-2462. (1-1-13 - -13-05)

"Do you realize how rare your truck is" was a quote I received in an email some years ago from a good friend C. Peter Jorgensen, former (FIRE APPARATUS & EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT MAGAZINE) editor and just plain good guy- rest his soul! He went on to explain his experience in selling pre-owned fire apparatus and only ever seeing one of the type trucks I own and that was in a picture in ALF expert Walt McCall's book 100 Years of American LaFrance. Walt explains in his book that my truck was referred to as an American LaFrance Century II also referred to as the ALF Straightline and Spartan II. According to what I have been told, only a handful of these models were made. Whatever you would like to call it, I would like to find a good home or it so contact me and make a legitimate offer! Year of production - 1979; Mileage - 36129; Hours - 4315; Pump - 1250 GPM Engine - Detroit Diesel # 10678040 with Allison Automatic Transmission. The Detroit is a strong engine and starts quickly. A nice feature is the hinged alumium diamond plate hose bed covers. This truck is located in the State of NH. Call 603 497-4637 or email (10-13-12- - 12-60)

Greetings from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. My neighbor, who is 82 yrs old, has a 1954 Ford F-750 Big Job Howe Pumper Truck. He acquired this truck when his all volunteer department was disbanded in the early 1980's. He is unfortunately needing to sell it, much to his dismay. The truck has only 4,379 original miles, was stored indoors until 2 yrs ago. The paint is faded, and it has some peeling but is solid with no rust out. It runs like a dream, but needs some brake lines. It has all the original equipment including the hoses, sirens ( motor driven), and lights. Is this something that anyone would want? He is asking $2500. My number is 715-354-4202 or 715-331-9437. Bert Piraino P.S. It has a clean open title. (9-8-12 - - 12-52)

1894 Silsby Steam Pumper
America’s fire departments were some of the first to adapt steam engines to mobile applications. From the 1850s, it became apparent that steam power could not only out-perform the hand pumps used by early volunteer companies, it could vastly outlast the muscles of human operators. By the 1870s, horses had taken over as movers of the apparatus, providing rapid arrival at the fire scene. One of the pioneers in steam fire engines was the Silsby Manufacturing Company of Seneca Falls, New York. The Silsby rotary pump soon became the pre-eminent choice of city fire services.
This Silsby Fourth Size pumper was delivered new to Philadephia’s Engine Company 42 in 1894. It remained in service until 1922, and was then in a private collection for 57 years. It has recently been treated to a show-quality restoration. This will be sold at the auction to be held October 11 & 12 in Hershey, P.A. For Sale: Ward LaFrance pumper that I believe to be a 1951. Belonged to Peabody, MA. Model 83, Waukesha 550ci inline 6, 750gpm pump. Truck is mostly complete but will require significant restoration. I removed some of the front end parts to begin restoration myself, but between work and family I'm not ending up with time to get anywhere with this project so I'd like to see it go to someone who can give it the time it needs. I hope not to see it end up parted out or scrapped. The engine is not seized, I recently hooked up a battery and bumped it over with the starter with no hesitation. Other than that I don't know what mechanical condition it is in, nor the condition of the pump. Front tires look pretty decent, rears are shot and one side doesn't hold air in the rear. Body is mostly solid but there is rot out in compartments, hose bed, and bottom corner of fenders, and other isolated areas. Pitting all over so complete body restoration would be needed to bring her back to nice shape. No siren. Loose parts are shown in the photos. Cab has wooden substructure that will need attention in places. This truck or its twin was featured in a WLF print ad that appears on ebay often (I have a copy) so you can google search for the image and see it when it was new (Peabody had 3 WLFs new at that time). Truck is located in Crown Point, NY. I'm hoping this truck has enough historical value to someone that I can recoup most of the $2200 it cost me to purchase it and transport it here, as the money is needed soon for more pressing matters. For Sale: This truck was originally purchased and served the South Plainfield Fire Co. In New Jersey from 1938 until approximately 1970. At that time it was purchased by a private owner that let it sit with no care. I purchased the truck in 1986 and did a full frame up restoration completed in 1991. What makes this 1938 Mack city service ladder truck different from others is it was also built with a fire pump and water tank. The truck is fully equipped as per truck manufacturers build records, delivery records and factory photographs that are included in sale of truck. All the lettering and striping are true goldleafing not tape or decals. All fire fighting equipment on truck is correct to time period and truck manufacturer. This truck is driveable and show ready. The generator on the runningboard of the truck is for display only and does not run. f you have any questions please E-mail Joe or call ( 856 ) 362-3313. (4-28-12 - -12-16)

For Sale: 1956 Mack B475CF Semi-open cab pumper. This truck is number 31 of 33 built as part of an order for the Federal Government in 1956. This truck is powered by a 354 cid Chrysler Industrial Hemi engine and a 5-speed non-syncromesh manual transmission. The truck also has a Hale two stage fire pump rated at 750 GPM with a 300 gallon water tank and top mounted booster reel. I have documented the history of the truck as much as possible and have supporting paperwork from the Mack archives. The truck does need a total restoration, but the truck is mostly complete and has not been torn apart. The engine was last ran approximately 7 years ago before the truck was parked. The truck did sit outside exposed to the elements for some time, so there is rust in the cab area, most notably a small hole in the cab floor under the officer's seat. The body has some minor dents and dings from typical use and there is some rust around the small rear compartment door above the back bumper. It was my intention to restore this truck, but I just don't have the time or resources. The truck has been stored under a roof and wrapped with a large tarp for the past 5 years. This would be a perfect restoration candidate and a great parade truck due to the open cab feature and the rarity of this particular model. Asking $5,000. Located in south western Pennsylvania. Contact Seth via Email with inquiries. (4-28-12 - - 12-15)

1955 Ford/Neep Pumper, Fully Equipped, Fully Operational, all original Classic Collector/Parade Rig, 9646 original miles, only $9,950 firm.
This beautiful all-original 1955 Ford F-600 truck was built by Gloyd Hall, founder of Western States Fire Apparatus, and sold by the Neep Equipment Company of Portland to the city of Newberg, Oregon. It served the Newberg FD as a first-out pumper for two decades, then was moved two miles down the road to Dundee, Oregon, where it served the Dundee FD for another 20 years before being put in reserve. I bought this engine in the late 1990s and restored it to its Newberg livery. I have cared for it for nearly 15 years, but now must part with it to make room for another apparatus project. Based on a 1955 Ford F-600 chassis, the truck has a 500 gpm Barton-American front-mount PTO pump that was recently tested by the Newberg FD and produced 660 gpm. It has a sound 500 gallon tank with foam cannister, two booster reels, two 1-1/2" pre-connect trays, and a large hose bed. The original tube-type 47MHz radio equipment is still installed, but not functioning. The package includes fire extinguishers, brass goods, working lights and siren, an Indian tank, two axes, three lengths of hard suction, two wooden ladders, and many other pieces of original equipment. It has been in parade and display service for the past dozen years, including pumping exhibitions. It has original paint, original Ford 258 engine, original two-speed axle, and a built-in pump-heater. It has been housed indoors for 55 years and well maintained by fire department mechanics. It would be hard to find a match for this historic all-original apparatus anywhere. For more information, contact Matt Simek, 503-538-1093, or write to P.O. Box 220, Newberg, OR 97132-0220.
